Week 5 Stream 3: Notes

Buildings as the protagonists, with people merely to help the action. 17 images, too many.

One obvious narrative as organized: Chrysler Building is there first and is tallest. Then the Empire State Building comes along and takes over the top spot. It holds dominion for a long time, through color, through even to 2001.

It has companionship, it houses love, but it's saddened by the loss of the WTC. Then, as if reminded by one of the people on the observation deck, it remembers the glamor of the Chrysler Building, its long ago rival. With a series of shots, it observes, it comes closer, it connects.

What other narratives? You could do competitions with these same images. You could tell a story of New York's Skyline.

Don't know if it would/will fly, but fun to make. See you in class.
